What the buyer should prepare.

The underground garage is one of the most heavily reviewed spaces in any building. It must ventilate vehicle fumes every day, extract smoke within minutes in a fire, and pass inspection before handover — all inside a low ceiling with shared shafts and tight routing.

What the environment demands

• Daily operation: carbon monoxide and fume extraction with balanced make-up air, at noise levels acceptable to the floors above.
• Fire mode: zone-by-zone smoke exhaust with dampers that open and close on signal, and fans that keep running under heat.
• Space reality: limited ceiling height, shared shafts and structural beams that dictate duct routing.

Typical equipment package

• Smoke exhaust fans and mixed-flow fans for main extraction and make-up air.
• Fire dampers and smoke exhaust fire dampers at every zone and shaft boundary.
• Galvanized steel ducts and fittings for exhaust, supply and make-up air paths.
• Silencers where shafts pass beneath residential or office floors.

Selection points to confirm before ordering

• Airflow and pressure per zone, not per building — zones fail inspection individually.
• Damper actuator type and control signal, matched to the fire alarm interface.
• Duct sizes against real ceiling height, including beam crossings.
• Noise limits at the boundary between garage and occupied floors.
